Empowering Change and Success...One Client At A Time!

Since 2004, Real House, Inc. (RHI) has transformed the lives of over 3,000 women and men, through our emergency shelters for women and men, substance abuse treatment program, halfway houses and sober living homes. In July 2017, the nonprofit arm of RHI—Real House Recovery, Inc. (RHR)— was awarded a major grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to provide housing and job placement for upwards of 80 homeless veteran families in Essex County. The Veterans Achieving Sustainability through Training (VAST) is dedicated to helping veterans become stable, productive individuals through employment training and job placement. The success of this program has led to continuation funding for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. And in January 2018, RHR was awarded the a 2-year grant through the NJ Victims of Crime initiative to implement BRAVE—Banding Residents Against Violence and Exploitation—which provides emergency shelter and supportive services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in Essex County.

RHI/RHR has established the WE CARE motto, which incorporates our six core values—Wellness, Empathy, Compassion, Advocacy, Respect, and Equity—under our person-centered model of service. We use these core values to help guide each team member in delivering high quality service to each of our clients.

Our facilities are located in Montclair, Bloomfield, Newark and Elizabeth, all centrally located in Essex and Union counties, with easy access to public transportation, as well as cultural and recreational activities.

As an integrated wellness provider, our comprehensive, centralized services are client-centered, thus affording our clients with easier access to needed services, including housing, primary healthcare, mental health care, intensive outpatient services, case management, and a host of supportive services.

Our purpose and passion is to empower our clients, be it to accept full responsibility for their sobriety…their ability not to recidivate…to leave abusive relationships, and the like. It is our goal to help each client acquire the skills and tools they need to be successful on an individual level, regardless of their circumstances. We provide a safe, nurturing environment to encourage personal development…growth…and success!

REAL House Inc. has a team of diverse, professional and credentialed staff members. They are dedicated to addressing the individual needs of clients through comprehensive treatment and discharge planning, while ensuring that each client is treated with respect.
